Blue Thumb Video Contest Information
Blue Thumb – Planting for Clean Water is running a video contest until July 1, 2012 asking people to submit videos promoting planting for clean water concepts in an entertaining way. We are striving for an internet sensation - a video so good that it MUST be forwarded to friends and relatives! Prizes
Contest winners will receive gift cards for a Blue Thumb partner nursery or landscape company.
1st Place is $500 to Hedberg Nursery
2nd Place is $350 to EnergyScapes, Inc.
3rd Place is $150 to Natural Shore Technologies, Inc.
Deadline
All entries are due by July 1, 2012. Winners will be announced on July 20, 2012.
To enter
Create your video following the listed requirements and either upload it to YouTube.com and send us a link or send us the video directly to dpape@ricecreek.org along with your name and telephone number. We will email you back to let you know we’ve received it.
Video requirements
- Video must be 30 to 90 seconds in length.
- Avoid profane language, violence, sex or personal attacks on people or organizations.
- Avoid violating copyright laws or using brand names or logos other than Blue Thumb® in your video. If you would like the Blue Thumb logo, click here.
- You agree to indemnify the Rice Creek Watershed District, its Blue Thumb outreach program and all of the Blue Thumb partners for any claim, demand, judgment, or other allegation arising from your possible violation of someone's trademark, copyright, or other legally protected interest in any way in your video.
- All contest submitters agree not to make any commercial use of those portions of their submissions which use Blue Thumb trademarks (including BlueThumb.org) without prior written approval from Blue Thumb.
- Your video may not contain any endorsement, solicitation, commercial, or similar content advocating for or against candidates for office, political issues, or commercial products.
- Your video must be original content for this contest. Do not submit a video that has been submitted elsewhere.
- Videos must be QuickTime/MOV, WMV, MPEG or AVI
- Obtain release forms for all of the people featured in your video. You must provide the Blue Thumb with the forms if requested.
- Be able to provide Blue Thumb with an original video file if you win.
- By entering the contest, you grant Blue Thumb a perpetual, royalty-free license to use your video, in any media, for standard government-related and other educational purposes. You grant Blue Thumb permission to edit, modify, format, or adapt your video for Blue Thumb's purposes at Blue Thumb's sole discretion.
- Except for the $500, $350 and $150 gift card prizes to Blue Thumb partners awarded to the winners of the video contest, no other compensation in any manner will be paid to any entrant of the video contest for the submission to Blue Thumb or Blue Thumbs's future use of the video in any manner.
- If you want to remove your video from the competition, you may do so by requesting Blue Thumb delete your video from its competition prior to the announcement of the winner on or about March 19, 2012.
- There is no limit on the number of videos someone may submit.
- To be eligible you must be 13 years or older. Younger children must have their parents’ approval.
Winner Selection
After the contest closes, videos will be judged to see if they present accurate information and comply with the requirements of the contest. Those videos that do not comply will be disqualified. All other videos will advance to round two where the videos will be rated by a panel of judges from Blue Thumb based on message, accuracy, appropriateness of theme, creativity, and entertainment value. A winner will be selected and notified by email on or about March 19, 2012. The winners will receive the prizes mentioned above be posted on BlueThumb.org and our Facebook page.
Privacy
The personal information you submit on the entry form will only be used to contact you in the event you win the contest or if there is a question or issue regarding your video or its content. We will not disclose, give, sell, or transfer any personal information about you, unless required for law enforcement or by statute. As your video will be made available to the public, you should not include personal information about yourself or anyone else. All information collected on the entry form will be deleted at the conclusion of the contest.
