Landscaping with Native Plants

This workshop will introduce you to the Blue Thumb – Planting for Clean Water Program and provide suggestions for landscaping your yard with native plants. You will leave with a packet of information that includes garden designs, plant information and more.

Blue Thumb plantings like native gardens not only help to keep lakes and rivers clean, but also provide many other benefits. Native plants do not require mowing, fertilizing or pesticides and have deep roots that stabilize soil and resist drought. After the first year, they don’t even need to be watered! Blue Thumb gardens attract birds and butterflies and discourage geese from congregating.

Registration required.

This workshop is supported locally by the Brown's Creek and Middle St. Croix Watersheds and City of Stillwater. The Washington Conservation District will provide free site visits after the workshops to help make dream gardens a reality.
