Build a Raingarden at Your Home

This workshop will introduce you to the Blue Thumb – Planting for Clean Water Program and provide an overview of raingarden basics, including where to site a raingarden in your yard, how to determine the best size for your garden and what plants to use. Participants will leave with a packet of information as well as resources for design and installation assistance. Copies of the Blue Thumb Guide to Raingardens will be available for a reduced cost of $10.

Raingardens not only help to keep our lakes and rivers clean, but also provide many other benefits. They help to control erosion, wet spots and other drainage issues in your yard, and also attract birds and butterflies.

Registration is required.

This workshop is supported locally by Comfort Lake - Forest Lake and Rice Creek Watershed Districts and the City of Forest Lake.

The Anoka and Washington Conservation Districts will provide free site visits after the workshops to help make dream gardens a reality, and people living in high priority areas within the Carnelian Marine - St. Croix, Comfort Lake - Forest Lake and Rice Creek Watershed Districts may even qualify for grants to install raingardens.
